The bacteria, fungus, and other microflora and fauna in our digestive system play an important part in our ability to digest food as well as our mood, intellectual functioning, and other aspects of our individual functioning.

As our diets have changed, many of these organisms have stopped living in the bodies of more industrialized humans.  A plan has emerged to save samples of diverse gut biomes in the hope of saving these possibly life saving organisms. Find out more in the article.
